Did You Know?

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration approximates that around 23 million Americans currently struggle or have struggled with some form of substance abuse.

Due to financial access and support networks, only a portion of these individuals will seek treatment.

At Sunshine Rehab, you can receive the drug or alcohol addiction and mental health care that you need. We work directly with your insurance provider to make recovery and sober living a very real possibility.

What is Tricare Drug Rehab Insurance?

Created in 1995, Tricare was created to cover current uniformed service members and their families, as well as retired service members.

Tricare’s mission statement is to “Provide health support for the full range of military operations and sustain the health of all those entrusted in our care.”

Tricare offers a variety of plans for health insurance, dental insurance, prescriptions, and other special enrollment programs.

Mental Health Services Offered by Tricare

Tricare offers a few additional benefits for mental illness and substance abuse:

  • Service Member-Exclusive Crisis Hotlines for suicidal ideations, PTSD, and other mental health support needs.
  • Service Member Nurse Mental Health Advice Line for help securing treatment resources.
  • Real Warriors support group for PTSD and trauma.
  • Transition mental health support for those transferring to a new location or separating from active duty.

Types of Tricare Health Insurance Plans

If you have Tricare insurance, you may be wondering the differences between all of the plans. Currently, Tricare offers different levels of plans depending on service members’ levels. Tricare Insurance Plans:

Tricare Prime/Tricare Prime Remote

This plan is comparable to the civilian Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans. This plan is given to active duty service members who live and/or work more than 50 miles from a military hospital. This plan is for both the service member and their eligible family members.

Tricare Select

This plan is comparable to civilian Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans. This plan allows you to use in-network Tricare providers, as well as using out-of-network Tricare providers at a reduced rate. Active duty military personnel, retired military service members, and their covered family members or former spouses are eligible for this plan.

Tricare Reserve Select

This plan is a premium-based option for active National Guard and Reserve service members and their families. This plan allows for covered services that are within Tricare’s network. For those that need out-of-network assistance, you may need to purchase additional coverage.

Tricare Retired reserve

This is a premium-based plan for those of the retired National Guard and Reserve. This plan is at the same cost as the retired service member plans and allows for treatment at in-network treatment centers. For those that need out-of-network assistance, you may need to purchase additional coverage.

Tricare Young Adult

This plan is different than the other as it can be purchased by the eligible beneficiaries of former or active service members. In order to qualify, you must be under the age of 26, are not covered by employer insurance, and do not qualify for another Tricare plan.

Addiction Treatment Cost

Due to the passing of the Affordable Care Act in 2014, health insurance companies cannot charge additional premiums or deny care for pre-existing conditions.

Thankfully, due to the mental health and substance treatment services needed to treat substance abuse, your insurance company is required to classify this as a pre-existing condition.

Many fear having to pay out of pocket for rehab centers. However, your Tricare substance abuse treatment insurance policy will make it easier to access the care you need and help you find a rehab that accepts Tricare insurance. Once paired with the right drug rehab that accepts Tricare, they will be able to work with you to determine what your insurance plan will cover and explain your Tricare benefits to you.

Tricare Drug Rehab Treatment Insurance
