Did You Know?

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration approximates that around 23 million Americans currently struggle or have struggled with some form of substance abuse.

Due to financial access and support networks, only a portion of these individuals will seek treatment.

At Sunshine Rehab, you can receive the drug or alcohol addiction and mental health care that you need. We work directly with your insurance provider to make recovery and sober living a very real possibility.

What is Aetna Drug Rehab Insurance?

Founded in 1853 in Connecticut, Aetna health insurance plans cover around 1.2 million health care professionals, almost 700,000 doctors offices, and around 6,ooo hospitals. Currently, Aetna has around 23 million subscribers.

The amount of coverage you will receive through Aetna varies based upon where you live, whether your primary care physician and substance abuse treatment provider are in or out-of-network, and what level plan you have.

Many insurance companies will have a set amount of days for each level of treatment you can receive.

However, the medical costs and treatment time for drug and alcohol rehab will vary from person to person based upon the rehab center, type of program, services needed, and prior treatment history.

Additional Substance Abuse Resources Through Aetna

Aetna insurance coverage also offers additional resources to those struggling with a substance use disorder. For those that have completed drug or alcohol rehab, Aetna offers a Continuing Care program. This program allows recovering addicts to meet weekly through Aetna-sponsored support groups as well as find Aetna-affiliated social events and recovery meetings in their area.

Types of Aetna Insurance Plans

If you have Aetna, you may be wondering the differences between all of the Aetna insurance policies. Currently, Aetna offers multiple tiers of plans, which may have different effects on your treatment eligibility. Aetna Insurance Plans:

Aetna HMO Plan

This plan is a budget-friendly option and has the lowest cost. HMO stands for Health Maintenance Organization, and is a widely offered low-cost plan for those without many medical needs. This plan requires you only see doctors within the network and all referrals must be done through a covered PCP.

Aetna POS Plan

This option, the Point of Service plan, requires you to get the same referrals from a covered PCP. However, the difference between this plan and HMO is that the POS plan covers referrals to out of network providers.

Aetna EPO Plan

This middle level plan, the Exclusive Provider Organization, only covers in-network providers, but will allow for non-referral care, meaning you can pick multiple in-network doctors. The premiums are slightly higher than the first two plans, but allow for more freedom in treatment locations.

Aetna PPO Plan

This plan, the Preferred Provider Organization, is pricier but allows for much more freedom in selecting doctors. You will be allowed seek treatment facilities that are both in and out-of-network. While you can see any doctor, the cost for in-network doctors will be lower. This is a good option if you have multiple health conditions that need to be monitored at different treatment centers.

Addiction Treatment Cost

Due to the passing of the Affordable Care Act in 2014, health insurance companies cannot charge additional premiums or deny care for pre-existing conditions.

Thankfully, due to the mental health care and substance treatment services needed to treat substance abuse, your insurance company is required to classify this as a pre-existing condition.

Many fear having to pay out of pocket for rehab centers. However, your Aetna substance abuse treatment insurance policy will make it easier to access the care you need. Your treatment facility will be able to work with you to determine what your insurance provider will cover, and can explain your Aetna benefits to you.
